How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?
I use to try to power through and finish books I did not like, but I don't anymore. I do to a certain extent, but once I reach my breaking point I have to stop. I don't give out DNF's often, but I refuse to put myself through torture trying to finish a book I just can't get into...I feel like giving a DNF is a review in itself on how you felt about the book. Trying to force myself to finish a book give me headaches. Why force yourself to read a book you're not liking when you could be spending your time reading something amazing?
Follow by either GFC or Bloglovin, it doesn't not matter to me.
Just let me know which one :)
aaah i HATE DNFing books.. i feel like a failure, but like you, I do it sometimes when a book is REALLY bad!
ReplyDelete- Farah @ MajiBookshelf
I agree with you, I would rather be reading something I love than something I really don't like.

So true! Why waste your time reading a lousy book, when you could be reading something incredible!

Once upon a time I'd always finish a book but nowadays no. I really have no more patience and I dnf books easily. Great answer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF, Janina! Hah! No wonder you agreed with what I had to say. We sound like twins! LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!

I feel so guilty to when I DNF a book. It's worse the week after I read the book, especially when I find a book so much worse than that one...and then with the new book I feel guilty for reading because it's awful but also guilty if I don't finish that one since the first was a DNF. It's just no good on my conscious.

I don't like DNFing a book, but you are right, why should I spend my free time reading something I don't like or enjoy?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF post earlier. I'm following you back via Bloglovin.
I know! And my TBR pile is crazy, I have all these worlds to discover, my time can't be wasted on drivel! Heyyy, I'm doing that vampires vs. zombies read-a-thon, too.I'm following on bloglovin'

I agree. If I force myself to finish and I still don't like it then I'm just even more irritated. Happy Friday! New bloglovin follower.

I hate not finishing a book, but as I'm getting busier then it's becoming a little easier. There are so many good books out there that I'm going to have to DNF more often to get to them. Following you back on Bloglovin'.
ReplyDeleteTraci @ Mad Hatter Reads
Completely and utterly agree. I also put down books I'm not enjoying when there are so many potentially amazing books waiting to be read from your bookshelf! :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower via GFC - love if you could do the same! :P
My FF
I always try to follow through books! I feel like I will miss something if I don't. I'm a GFC follower!
ReplyDeleteUsually I will give it 50-100 pages before I DNF if I'm not enjoying it. I used to power through but I no longer have the time and it turned reading into a chore. There are too many books I'm excited to start DNFs don't bother me but I am picky about what I read though so only have 1 DNF so far!

I agree! It's so painful trying to read something that just not for you. Happy Friday :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading! :)
Very true, but I just can't help but try to power through it. I am trying to learn to put books down, but it just stresses me out!
