Seven deadly sins. Seven souls that must be saved. One more no-holds- barred battle between a fallen angel with a hardened heart and a demon with everything to lose. This is the second installment in the Fallen Angels series by J.R. Ward and as you guys know I love J.R. Ward :) I do prefer the BDB books over this one, but this series is good all the same and I really enjoyed this book. And for some reason, I love the cover!
Isaac Rothe is a black ops soldier with a dark past and a grim future. The target of an assassin, he finds himself behind bars, his fate in the hands of his gorgeous public defender Grier Childe. His hot attraction to her can only lead to trouble-and that's before Jim Heron tells him his soul is in danger. Caught up in a wicked game with the demon who shadows Jim, Isaac must decide whether the soldier in him can believe that true love is the ultimate weapon against evil.
This book basically follows the same premise of book 1, except with a new soul to save. I loved following Isaac Rothe's character. He was bad ass! I loved his whole demeanor as a character. I did actually like his connection with Grier, but I do feel as though their wasn't enough actual 'romance' to the relationship. It was interesting to follow, but I do wish there was a little bit more romance. Grier, I kind of didn't like though. In the beginning I though she was okay, but towards the end she started becoming to demanding. As a character overall, I didn't care for her.
I love the whole thing with Jim and the two others on his team, whose names escape me at the moment. Adrian and something with an E. But yeah, the whole thing with Devina is still weird to me. The torture scene confused me a bit. I don't know how to describe my thoughts on that so I'm just going to leave that be.
This book had tons of action and heated scenes and I'm really anxious to see how book 3 will turn out. :) Glad I already have it! Overall, I thought the book was good and if you like the BDB series, then I think you should give this one a try.
I am so excited to read this now! I dismissed them at first but now I am definitely checking these out. The characters sound great and the whole idea is very unique. plus, the "heated scenes" have got me curious! LOL ;p
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, I really like the cover too. :) Glad you enjoyed this. Great review!
