Some zombies are raised. Others must be put down. Just ask Anita Blake.
Before now, she would have considered them merely off-putting, never dangerous. Before now, she had never heard of any of them causing human beings to perish in agony. But that’s all changed.
Micah’s estranged father lies dying, rotting away inside from some strange ailment that has his doctors whispering about “zombie disease.”
Anita makes her living off of zombies—but these aren’t the kind she knows so well. These creatures hunt in daylight, and are as fast and strong as vampires. If they bite you, you become just like them. And round and round it goes…
Where will it stop?
Even Anita Blake doesn’t know.
I got this book and was really curious to see how things would turn out. For quite sometime this series has fallen off and I feel it's just starting to drag out. I honestly thought it was going to end a few books ago, but it just kept going. When I first started the series I was really enjoying it, but then we started getting unnecessary books, in my opinion, that didn't really have a plot and had nothing going on and now that we are on book 22, I think I finally just got fed up with it.

This was a DNF for me. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy what I read. I got to chapter 7 and just couldn't continue on. I had and have no desire to pick the book back up once I put it down. This is now book 22 and I've come to the conclusion that I'm tired of the series as a whole. I enjoyed the characters and still love them for this series, but I'm just tired of the series as a whole. After so many books, it's like, when is the series going to end?! I don't know if there will be more books after this one, but I think I'm just going to stop reading this because the books have really been slacking and I don't want to keep reading more books in the series and start continuously being disappointed. If that makes any sense at all! It's been nice getting to know the characters, but I think I'm just over the series now. There's been some bad books, but there's been more good and great books.

  1. Well considering this is 22nd sequel I'm not really surprised. I think that author needs to let this all go because this is really too much. Sorry it disappointed you. Great review :)

  2. Aw so sorry to hear that you didn't finish. But that happens and I can imagine with such a logn series that it would be easy to get off track

  3. I don't think I have read any books in this series but man, does it drag on. Congrats on lasting this long! I have given up series for the same reason, everything has been explored and the author needs to stop and start a new project.

    1. I feel that way about a few series that I've started. I think after so many books it should end! If you're hitting 20...or even 10!

  4. Wow, I can't imagine reading a series with 22 books. I think it just needs to end, even if all the books WERE great. It's a bit much for a series.

I'm sorry these have gone downhill for you though.

  5. I would never be able to keep up with 22 books! That's crazy, and I can't believe the series has sustained itself thus far. No wonder it was a DNF!

  7. I think that's common for me too to give up on a series when there's just too many books. I've done the same thing with the House of Night and Morganville Vampires series.

  8. LOL. I checked at least four times when I read 22. WTH?! O.o That's insane! I know urban fantasy genre and crime series are like.. long, but not THAT long. Usually at least. I don't even blame you for ditching the series, I say:"Go for it!" ;)

  9. I am getting there with the Morganville Vampires series, it is sad when authors or the editorial company don't know when to wrap things up on a series.
I hope you soon find a book that helps you get this DNF taste off.
