The second installment in the all-new series from the masterful, #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater!
Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after...
I would definitely have to say that I enjoyed the Dream Thieves more than I enjoyed the Raven Boys. I find this series very intriguing and have yet to read anything like it. This book was a smooth read and it didn't leave me confused as I was in book one. In this book we continue on with the main characters of the book and I found that I like most of them. Most. (I had to reiterate that!) The more I continue with the book, the more I wanted to know what would happen next. This book kept me engaged in the story, it was suspenseful and it had action :) I can't wait for book three to see what happens next!

Reading this book was like getting to know the characters all over again because I forgot a lot of things about each of the characters from book one. Gansey and Ronan are my favorites, by far! And Blue had to grow on me in this story and I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like Adam. The Gray Man was just interesting. For some reason, I just really like Gansey. His way of thinking really draws me to his character and I find myself wanting to get to know his character more and more. In book one, I didn't know what to make of Ronan, but I find him very intriguing. His character taps into my curiosity. I find him so weird and creepy at times, but I also found mysterious. Blue annoyed me a little bit in the beginning because I forgot how her personality was, but by the end of the book I found that I was enjoying her bubbly personality. I forgot about the kiss of death issue. Which had me like, HOW COULD I FORGET?! The gray man was also an interesting character. When reading from his pov, I really had no idea what to expect from him, but what I got was NOT what I was expecting. It really threw me for a loop...

I only had one issue beside the fact that I was pushing through a reading slump with this book. But I'm glad I kept pushing myself each day to read a little bit at a time because I was really happy with the book. But now, my main dislike with this book was Adam. I just do not like him. I find him whiny and always comparing himself to Gansey, which gets to be so annoying. I understand his childhood and the pain he went through and I understand that he wants better for himself, but come on! The self pity and whining really got on my nerves. I also find him to be a boring character. He does not interest me at all and I'm sad to say that.

But overall, I enjoyed the story and definitely can't wait to get my hands on book three :) If you've read book one, I would definitely recommend you check out the sequel. I received a copy for review through Netgalley. All thoughts are my honest opinion!

  1. I can say that I enjoyed TRB but it wasn't my fave Maggie's book. But from what I hear I think that The Dream Thieves will be. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Great review :)

    1. I wish I like Adam more, but he's just been putting me off. I'm hoping he's better for me in book 2.

  3. I definitely thought The Dream Thieves was better than The Raven Boys. I know what you mean about loving Gansey and Ronan- they were my favourite characters too! Gansey in particular is so fascinating.

I pitied Adam a lot. He's not perfect, and he is whiny, but at the same time I feel like he can't help being who he is, y'know? Still, probably the least engaging of the boys.

    Great review!

  4. I'm listening to The Raven Boys (audiobook) now. I was hoping to finish it in time for the release of this one, but I don't think I'm going to make it. I don't like it as much as the Shiver trilogy, but it's good.

  6. I just read another review for this that stated it was better than the first. I still need to read The Raven Boys, but good to know I should continue the series regardless of my thoughts. :)

  8. I am glad to know that reading this is kind of like knowing the characters over again cause like you, I totally forgot about the characters' personalities, appearance, etc! Plus, I did not really like the 1st book so I don't even know how the story goes except there are ley lines and that there are fortune tellers. I also have an ARC and will read it soon. Great review :D I am REALLY crossing my fingers that I end up liking this one. I really want to like it.

  9. I LOVE Gansey, and Ronan is definitely interesting because he is so mysterious. Adam is a bit strange, yeah, but I do like his relationship with Blue. It's great that you liked this one better than the first because I was looking for improvement. Great review!

  12. Great review! I liked Adam in the first book and was unhappy with the direction his character took in this one. By the end, it did seem like he could redeem himself possibly in the next book. Curious to see how everything will be resolved.
