When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.
Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.
The first in a two-book series, Uninvited tackles intriguing questions about free will, identity, and human nature. Steeped in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan's trademark mix of gripping action and breathless romance, this suspenseful tale is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Michelle Hodkin, and Lisa McMann.
Uninvited left me with mixed feelings after I finished reading the book. So first I'm going to start with all the positives.

The story it self was a pretty interesting one and I really liked the concept of the story and everything that was going on within it. The story was very fast paced for me and I finished it really quick. I always wanted to know what happened next. The brief glimpses that of what was going on with the 'higher ups' or the government really kept me wanting to know more. I liked the idea of 'the kill gene'. When Davy, the protagonist, is told that she had the gene, I was very intrigued from then on out. You have this girl who goes to school, is very talented, and has many friends but as soon as everyone finds out about it, she's on her own. Sounds a bit typical, but I actually liked that part of the story. I also liked how the carriers were treated, in some ways. It was kind of realistic because once they know you have the kill that person is looked down on and nobody wants anything to do with the. So it makes sense that you'd be treated like crap. I do feel like the females were treated worse and had many wrong things happen to them.

For me this book fell a bit flat for me in the romance department and because I couldn't really connect with any of the characters. Davy wasn't really the type of character that I like. I did like her determination and her attitude of not wanting to be labeled, but that was about it. Sean was pretty interesting, but I he's still a mystery to me. We know a little bit about him, but not enough for me to like and connect with him. I also really didn't care to much for the romance of the book either. I mean, it wasn't horrible, but since I couldn't connect with the characters it left me unable to connect in that aspect as well. Overall the book was still pretty good. I didn't want to stop reading it even though I wasn't connecting with the characters. The story itself and what it was about is what kept me hooked. I received a copy for review through Edelweiss. All thoughts are my honest opinion.

  3. I love the concept as well! So much, actually. I can't wait to read this. Though, I must say that it's pretty much hopeless to love the story when you don't connect and romance is all about connecting. So I don't blame you for for not loving it to no limits.
