Blogger Interview: Nicola at A Pocket Full of Books

Hey everyone,
Today's blogger interview is with Nicola from A Pocket Full of Books!
Please welcome her :)
I really enjoy her blog and so you guys should check it out if you haven't and get to know a little bit about her experience blogging.
Her links will be question 10 of the interview :)
Enjoy and please tell me your thoughts!

The Interview:

1. Well, to start off this interview how about you tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
Hey! Thanks for having me on your blog.  I'm Nicola. I'm 19 and I live in Ireland. I'm (unsurprisingly) a soon-to-be English lit student. My blog (A Pocket Full of Books) focuses mainly on Young Adult books but the occasional Adult book slips in there too. At the moment it consists of lots of reviews and a few memes.

2. How long have you been blogging?
I have been reviewing for years. I started reviewing on Goodreads back in 2009. I only decided to start my blog up in December of 2011. I probably would have done so sooner if I had known more about the book blogging world and how huge it is!

3. What is is one of the best and one of the worst experience you have encountered with blogging?
There are lots of bests! I love it when people stop by to tell me they like my reviews. It's also awesome to get asked by authors or publishers to review their books. The best was probably getting my first print review copy- that was fun!

There haven't been many bad experiences so far. At first I found it a little overwhelming but I'm getting the hang of spacing everything out now and pacing myself.

4. How do you maintain your blog? (Ex: Is there a schedule you stick to or you post as you go.)
I don't have a strict schedule but I do have a calender. I have some scheduled posts for blog tours and cover reveals, and for reviews of books that have to be held until closer to the publication date! But other than that, no. I think life would get in the way of any sort of formal schedule!

5. How did you come up with the name of your blog? Is there any backstory to it?
I just sat at my laptop all day and tried out different ones! Every time I thought I'd come up with something creative I'd look and someone would already have it. I ended up with A Pocket Full of Books as I got my first ereader at the same time and figured that I now literally do have a pocket that's full of books! Not the most exciting name ever but I've grown attached to it. :)

6. What is one way, to you, that makes a blog eye catching?
I think there's a difference between what I think is eye catching and what I actually want to spend time looking at! I really like when blogs keep it simple. The less I have distracting me in the background the more likely I am to read through the posts. I love when a blog's heading is nice and original but I like the rest of the blog to be plain.

7. What is your favorite book genre?
I tend to be drawn towards anything with a paranormal element to it. They're just the most exciting! However, this year I've really started to like contemporary YA fiction and I've really enjoyed what I've read so far. I think realistic fiction can be just as entertaining as fantasy!

8 What is one thing about a book that turns you off about it?
Other than having typos and formatting problems, I really can't stand stereotypes! I'm very unlikely to continue reading a book if all the characters are walking talking stereotypes. It's so unoriginal and I feel like the characters really have no voice of their own!

9. Stand Alone or Series? Why?
While series are great and I follow lots of them, lately I've been really into stand alone novels. For a number of reasons really! I think lots of books in a series can end up being fillers and have nothing in them that moves the plot along. It's also a pain having to wait a year for the next installment to come out. And it gets really expensive when you have to buy three or more books for every one book you read! Series can be wonderful and exciting but sometimes authors just don't know when to stop and end up taking it too far.

10. Where can we find you?
