Too many secrets. Not enough time.
Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since it’s just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, that’s a survival tactic.
But now he’s got problems even his brothers can’t help him survive.
His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going quick as mercury from daring to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinn’s dancer friend Adam is throwing Nick off balance, forcing him to recognize a truth he’d rather shove back into the dark.
He can feel it—-the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is starting to find out that sometimes nothing you do can keep the peace.

Breathless was an interesting read and twist in the Elemental series by Brigid Kemmerer. I adore this series to pieces! I love finding out all the about each of the Merrick Brothers and I've always been curious about Nick. I've never really liked him all that much, but found that I've always wanted to get into his mind to find out more about him. And this novella definitely helped me figure out some things about him. Thanks so much to Netgalley for providing me with an eARC! All thoughts are my honest opinion.

Recommendations (6): If I Stay by Gayle Forman

If I Stay
by Gayle Forman
In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...
A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

Why I Recommend
This was a very emotional read for me. I cried like a big ol' baby throughout the book. But the story itself and the relationship between Mia and Adam is what truly got me. This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad she introduced me to it. And let me tell you now, the sequel was just as good to me. If you like stories that involve a lot of emotions, then I definitely recommend this to you!

Quotes

“I realize now that dying is easy. Living is hard.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
“And that's just it, isn't it? That's how we manage to survive the loss. Because love, it never dies, it never goes away, it never fades, so long as you hang on to it.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
“If you stay, I'll do whatever you want. I'll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I'll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it'd be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I'd do it. I can lose you like that if I don't lose you today. I'll let you go. If you stay.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
“Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay

It's been over a year since all the adults disappeared. Gone.
In the time since everyperson over the age of fourteen disap-peared from the town of Perdido Beach, California, countless battles have been fought: battles against hunger and lies and plague, and epic battles of good against evil. And now, the gaiaphage has been reborn as Diana's malicious mutant daughter, Gaia. Gaia is endlessly hungry for destruction. She yearns to conquer her Nemesis, Little Pete, and then bend the entire world to her warped will. As long-standing enemies become allies, secrets are revealed and unexpected sacrifices are made. Will their attempts to save themselves and one another matter in the end, or will the kids of Perdido Beach perish in this final power struggle?
Light, the sixth and final book in the New York Times bestselling Gone series by Michael Grant, creates a masterful, arresting conclusion to life in the FAYZ.

I fell in love with this series from the very first book and all the way up to this final installment! I am so sad to see this series end, and just like all the other books in this series, I could not put it down. I was dying to know how Michael Grant would end this fantastic series and I felt he did a wonderful job. I was so happy to be back into the world of the FAYZ and seeing all the  characters I loved and even the ones that I hated. This was an emotional ride for me and let me go ahead and admit that this book brought tears to my eyes! UGH, I'm so sad to see it end.

The Garde are finally reunited, but do they have what it takes to win the war against the Mogadorians?
John Smith—Number Four—thought that things would change once the Garde found each other. They would stop running. They would fight the Mogadorians. And they would win.
But he was wrong. After facing off with the Mogadorian ruler and almost being annihilated, the Garde know they are drastically unprepared and hopelessly outgunned. Now they’re hiding out in Nine’s Chicago penthouse, trying to figure out their next move.
The six of them are powerful, but they’re not strong enough yet to take on an entire army—even with the return of an old ally. To defeat their enemy, the Garde must master their Legacies and learn to work together as a team. More importantly, they’ll have to discover the truth about the Elders and their plan for the Loric survivors.
And when the Garde receive a sign from Number Five—a crop circle in the shape of a Loric symbol—they know they are so close to being reunited. But could it be a trap? Time is running out, and the only thing they know for certain is that they have to get to Five before it’s too late.
The Garde may have lost battles, but they will not lose this war.
Lorien will rise again.
Why I'm Wishing...
I've really been enjoying this series. It's been action packed with some pretty decent romance and I'm really curious to get to the end of it all. I don't know how many books are in the series, but I'm really excited for this one :) Ugh, and when is the next movie coming out?!

It’s been twenty three days since Quinn has slept for more than minutes at a time. Demons have invaded her dreams, stalking her, and whispering of her death. The lack of sleep and crippling fear are ruining her life. Energy drinks and caffeine pills don’t make a dent. When Quinn dozes off in the school hallway, Aaron, an amnesiac with a psychic ability, accidentally enters her nightmare. The demons are determined to keep them apart, and Aaron from discovering the secret locked away in his memory. Together, they could banish the darkness back to the underworld for good. That is, unless the demons kill them first.

Pretty Dark Nothing is one of those books I went into without knowing much about it, so I really had no expectations while reading the book. The synopsis drew me in and I was curious to know what the book was all about, but I must say that this book was not for me. I will say that I did enjoy the authors writing style, which flowed with ease and I liked that a lot and made me continue on to finish the book. It was the characters and the confusion that made me dislike the book.

by Victoria Scott

He makes good girls...bad.
Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.
Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:
Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.
Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

The Collector is one of my top 2013 anticipated reads and I was super excited to get my hands on it and learn all about the fantastic Dante! I was not disappointed :) This book kept me thoroughly entertained and intrigued throughout the entire book. I will definitely be continuing on with this series :) And if you're looking for a fast paced read, then you should seriously give this a try. I receive a copy for review via Netgalley! All thoughts are my honest opinion.

After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as "normal" as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for-his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he's forbidden to see her again.
But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, "normal" simply isn't to be. For Ethan's nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan's and Keirran's fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan's next choice may decide the fate of them all.

Why I'm Wishing...

The Rules by Stacey Kade

The Rules
(Project Paper Doll, #1)

1. Never trust anyone.
2. Remember they are always searching.
3. Don’t get involved.
4. Keep your head down.
5. Don’t fall in love.
Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane’s survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans in a small Wisconsin town, to hide in plain sight at her high school from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) “project.”
But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief’s son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules…

The Rules was a very interesting read that I liked. It was different from a lot of books that I've been reading lately. I loved the idea of Ariane being a hybrid (half human/half alien). It was definitely an interesting combo. The writing style of the author was easy to read and follow, which I found I liked as well :) I did feel as though the book could have been better in some aspects, but overall I thought the book was pretty good! I receive a eARC from Netgalley for review. All thoughts are my honest opinion!

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....
Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young—just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.
Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one.
Lover At Last is finally here and I finished all 591 pages in a day :) I could not wait to get my hands on this book! And let me tell you now that I devoured it. I could not put it down. I had to know what would happen with Qhuinn and Blay. I also loved being back in the world of the BDB because its always a breath of fresh air for me. This book did not disappoint me at all! J.R. Ward is AMAZING! Even though this installment is with two guys (gay romance) I didn't have an issue with it. I didn't think I would since I was excited for the book, but since I've never read a book involving gay romance, this was a relief! Overall, awesome installment! But whose story will be next?! Usually at the end of a bdb book, I know who the next book will be about. MY TOP SERIES...EVER!

Will love conquer all?
Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.
Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.
But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.
As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

I've been dying to see how this series would rap up and I did enjoy it, but I must say somethings were still the same. As in Nora, always annoying. I don't know what it is about the girl, but I can't get over the fact of how annoying she is. And didn't see much 'final develop' either, which was kind of disappointing. She had a thing with lying in this book, and I felt like that was completely unnecessary even with the situation as well. But I love being reunited with Patch again! Patch will always have a special place in my heart :) There were so many things going in within the book that kept me intrigued. Nora and Patch's fake 'breakup', devil craft (weird stuff), Donte (spell check, I listened to the audio), and the ever growing issues with the fallen angels and Nephilim.

I thought the action in the book was awesome :) That never disappoints and the romance was awesome as well. Even though Nora and I have a love/hate relationship, I love the connection between her and Patch. I felt like the ending of the book did rapped up well and left me with no question unanswered! Let me tell you, that deserves a hand clap because some authors are not able to do that for me :D Overall, I really enjoyed the series and I'm sad to see it go! I can't wait to see what Fitzpatrick has in store next.

I used to be your average, everyday girl but all that changed one night in Dublin when I saw my first Fae, and got dragged into a world of deadly immortals and ancient secrets. . . .

In her fight to stay alive, MacKayla must find the Sinsar Dubh—a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over the worlds of both the Fae and Man. Pursued by assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she can’t trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and powerful men: V’lane, the immortal Fae Prince, and Jericho Barrons, a man as irresistible as he is dangerous.
For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.

I must say that I enjoyed this sequel way better than I did the first book in the Fever series. MacKayla was a lot more interesting to me in this book than the first, but I can't quite put my finger on why. She still questions everything, but I don't think she was as whiny. She still had her bitchy moments as well, but I enjoyed them in this book. I felt she had reason to act that way. Jericho is so interesting to me. I just can't figure him out. He's mysterious and doesn't care. He tells you only what you want him to know, and yet I LOVE him for that. I hope he doesn't turn out to be evil because I really like him. I think he is, by far, my favorite character in this series.

I also liked that there was way more action in this book that I enjoyed. I really didn't care for the action in the first book, so I'm happy to say that it was better in this one. And did I see a hint of romance?! Hmm, I'm really excited to check out the next installment because this ending did nothing for me. I have no clue what will happen next :)

Above all else, though I try not to think about it, I know which life I prefer. And every night when I Cinderella myself from one life to the next a very small, but definite, piece of me dies. The hardest part is that nothing about my situation has ever changed. There is no loophole.
Until now, that is...

For as long as she can remember, Sabine has lived two lives. Every 24 hours she Shifts to her 'other' life - a life where she is exactly the same, but absolutely everything else is different: different family, different friends, different social expectations. In one life she has a sister, in the other she does not. In one life she's a straight-A student with the perfect boyfriend, in the other she's considered a reckless delinquent. Nothing about her situation has ever changed, until the day when she discovers a glitch: the arm she breaks in one life is perfectly fine in the other. With this new knowledge, Sabine begins a series of increasingly risky experiments which bring her dangerously close to the life she's always wanted...But just what - and who - is she really risking?

Why I'm Wishing...
This sounds very interesting to me. I usually don't read many books like this, but I would really like to give this one a try. I can't wait to see what its all about :)

June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.
It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.
But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?
In this highly-anticipated sequel, Lu delivers a breathtaking thriller with high stakes and cinematic action.

Prodigy was one of my most anticipated books of 2013 and I was dying to get my hands on it to continue the wonderful series that Marie Lu started. I thought this was a great sequel to Legend, but I did have a couple issues. Not many and nothing to series, but some. But overall, I thought the book was pretty great. I loved diving back into the world of the Republic, Patriots and Colonies and all the awesome characters.

Book Blitz: Timespell by Diana Paz - Excerpt & Guest Post

Book Trailer
In TIMESPELL, the brash and impulsive Julia must team up with her sweet and straight-laced best friend, Angie, and the malicious and power-hungry Kaitlyn in order to keep the witch-like powers of her inheritance. But these powers come at a cost. The girls are bound to serve the Fates, and their first mission sends them back in time to Marie Antoinette’s Paris and eventually, into the chaos and war of the French Revolution.
Timespell Excerpt: Angie

With a flick of her wrist, Angie lit the candelabras lining the
wall. She shouldn’t have gone this far into the backstage labyrinth
of the opera house without Kaitlyn and Julia. Listening to them
fight, hearing the loathing in Kaitlyn’s words, made up her mind.
She had decided to slip away on her own. And now she couldn’t
go back. Not when she sensed the magic drawing her forward. Its
pull was irresistible.

She turned a corner, lifting her hand to release a shimmer of
light. It trailed to where the hall opened up to reveal a stage. She
had circled the entire opera house.
