Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward

Title: Lover  Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)
Author: J.R. Ward
Release Date: September 5th 2006 by Signet
Edition: Mass Market Paperback, 434 pages

Synopsis:
A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.

Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her…

My Thoughts:
Let me start off saying that you guys know that I am rereading and review this series :) And Zsadist is still my favorite brother! I am glad I revisited this book and remembering all the little details that I love about him.

There are a lot of different elements going on in this book, besides Zsadist and Bella. You get to see more of John, Phury, and you get to see the power struggle within the Lessening society.

This book starts off with Zsadist pissed at the world more than ever. The issue he is facing with saving Bella drives his anger deeper. Zsadist is such a tormented character. With his horrible past of him being a blood slave to a mistress who abused him in more ways than one, you find yourself sympathizing with him and understanding why he feels the way he does and why he acts the way he acts. But you see an amazing change in him as the book progresses! His struggle with his feelings toward Bella and his feelings towards himself as a person, which I really loved to see. And I also, loved that awkwardness he had when he was around Bella and was clueless of what to do. You don't see that too often.

I really enjoyed Bella as his female counterpart. She was strong. She went through so much in the beginning of this book. She played a major role in Zsadist's change. Bella is his perfect match to me. They balance each other out. And their romance is so adorable at times. Yes, Zsadist could be adorable in my eyes at times :D

One of my favorite quotes is from this book :) - Zsadist to Bella - "I was dead until your found me, though I breathe. I was sightless, though I could see. And then you came...And I was awakened." I just love it!

I shed a few tears in this book ;( My heart went out to Tohr and John! Ugh, that just sucked. But the ending of this book brought my happiness back! Just to cute :) I just really love this series. It's full of romance and action packed. I may make you laugh, cry, or jump for joy. Lol It keeps you entertained and is definitely a page turner!

If you haven't checked out this series, I Highly recommend it! And if you have read this series, whose your favorite Brother?

Musing Monday (2/27)

Do you read books that are part of a series?
Do you collect all the books in the series before starting? What if the series is brand new, and the only book that’s been published so far is Book one? As subsequent books in the series are published, do you go back and re-read the preceding books?

Yes, I read books that are part of a series! The majority of the books that I buy are part of  a series. I love the character development and the romance that progresses in each book. Also, the different adventures and the ups and downs you go through and experience with the characters :) Amazing!

No I don't collect all the books in a series before I start reading them, because how would I know if I even like that first book?! I love buying the first book in the series, but I hate the wait to the sequel. Come authors....A whole year! How about 6 months if possible? Lol It depends if I reread a book before the next book releases. I only reread it if I for get what happens. But that doesn't happen often.

Some examples of series I read: The BDB by JR Ward, The Mortal Instuments series by Cassie Clare, The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I can't wait to continue: Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi and the Legend series by Marie Lu! Awesome :)

Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

Title: Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2)
Author: J.R. Ward
Release Date: March 7th 2006 by Signet
Edition: Mass Market Paperback, 441 pages

Synopsis:
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war raging between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret bound of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Possessed by a deadly beast Rhage is the most dangerous of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Owned by this dark side, Rhage fears the time when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.

Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant to Rhage's protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. She lost her faith in miracles years ago. But when Rhage's intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves...

My Thoughts:
This is the second installment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and I highly enjoyed it!
This book had so many emotions running through it, and so much struggle in than the first book. You have Rhage, who has to deal with his inner beast. And then there is Mary with her struggle with fighting Leukemia. It's a really tough thing. And together they have to figure out how to deal with both issues.

I really loved this book! Rhage is hilarious, and a sweetheart. I like him a lot. He was tough and dangerous, but had all the love in the world for Mary. I loved Rhage's character and the growth that he goes through. He went through a major growth in this book! Mary, I like her from the very beginning. She was a strong character, and with her fighting the disease and being introduced to a world she knew nothing about was a double hitter.

Mary and Rhage's romance was so heartfelt. I adored it so. The love they felt for each other was amazing and adorable and sad, all the same. And the book was action packed! So much action in one book! It definitely kept the pages turning, wanting to know what happened next. And the beast! Weird. Lol But it gave an interesting twist to the storyline!

I love how you see more of Zsadist in this book ;) It's like a hint to the next book, considering his story is the third installment. You see a different side to him.
Also, in this book we are introduce to a new character, John Matthews. Can't wait to see how his character comes about!

Overall, this book was amazing! I highly recommend this series. And this story was so...I can't even describe it! Just amazing!

Dangerous, intoxicating, and darkly romantic, Embrace is a thriller that will leave you spellbound.

My Thoughts:
Let me start off saying that I don't read to many witch books. You know, besides Harry Potter. But I must say I really enjoyed this one. This was a new concept on witches and I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The fact that the witch powers had a taste, I really liked.

Of course, Issac was my favorite character. He was sweet and protective, but dangerous all the same. I thought he was the perfect love interest. At times I didn't care for Madison, but she was still enjoyable. She could be kind of annoying. And why towards the end of the books, there was a "possible" love triangle. I really didn't like that. A part of this book kind of reminded me of an exorcism. Freaked - Me - Out. I really liked Kaylee and Josh and wish we could of seen more with Josh.

I really liked the ending :) I liked the action in this book and I really liked the romance between Isaac and Madison. I thought it was cute. And I loved when Madison got all jealous!

If you like witches, I think you should check out this book! It was a fun and a very quick read. Thank you to Cherie Colyer for supplying the copies for the Read 2 Review for the Young Adult Reads group!

This was a short review. Lol

Musing Monday (2/20)

(Happy Family Day, to anyone celebrating!)

This week's musing asks... What is the last book that you learned something from? What book was it, and what did it teach you?

The last book were I actually learned something valued that I can remember is: You Against Me by Jenny Downham. I really enjoyed that book by the way. That book had so many emotions going through it, so many tough elements for two people have to face.

I learned to never let anyone try to influence your decision when it comes to something so important. You have to remember to stay true to yourself and do what you  feel is right, no matter the consequences. I mean, life can be tough, but you just have to take it day by day.

Author Interview:

1. Where is the current place your reside and can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I live in Virginia with my husband, two young boys and dog. I love reading, writing, music, and spending time with my friends and family.

2. Have you always wanted to be an author and what or who inspired you to become a writer?
I've always had an overactive imagination and love of paranormal books, TV shows and movies, but I didn't actually know that I could write a novel until about 4 years ago. My inspiration for writing my first book was Stephenie Meyer. After reading the Twilight Saga, along with my love of the "paranormal" world,  I was inspired to write my own stories.

3. When did you write your first complete book?
I began writing about 4 years ago during a stressful time in my life, including moving from Pennsylvania to Virginia. I found reading and writing to be a great escape from my everyday responsibilities. One day an idea came to me on my way to pick up my son from preschool and I decided to write a book. Writing quickly became my passion and I’ve been doing it ever since. It has been so wonderful to be able to share my stories with others. It is my hope that Dark Seeker will provide at least one person with the escape they need.

4. Do you take any part in creating your book covers?
Yes, I created the Dark Seeker book cover. I loved researching photographs and experimenting with fonts and colors. Designing book covers is so much fun.

5. Do you have any bad habits you do when you are reading?
Haha, yes...I love to eat gummy bears.

6. Where is your favorite place to read?
I love to read in bed before I go to sleep. It is quiet, so I can immerse myself in the story without interruption. If I'm really into a book it's difficult for me to put it down and I end up staying up way too late.

7. Are you currently reading any books?
Right now I'm reading Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare and loving it.

8. Who are some of your favorite authors?
Cassandra Clare, Richelle Mead, J.R. Ward, Julie Kagawa, Stephenie Meyer and Suzanne Collins are some of my favorite authors.

9. Which do you prefer: Stand Alone or Series when it comes to books?
I prefer reading a series that wraps up the main conflict at the end of each book, but also leaves the story open to more novels. I love it when I find myself rooting for the characters and getting to know them. It's amazing to see them grow throughout the series.

10. Do you have any advice for writers out there who want to become authors?
Keep writing and never give up. Continue to learn and improve your craft. Write what you love and it will show through your writing. Stay true to yourself and follow your passions. Also, read lots of books in the genre you write.

11. Where can people buy your books?
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Book Depository and Smashwords
Dark Beauty, the prequel short story to Dark Seeker is available now & Dark Return, the 2nd book in the series, will be out later this year.

12. Do you have any websites? (Twitter, Facebook, Blog, etc.)
website:  tarynbrowning.com
blog:  yafictionauthor.blogspot.com

    Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

Title: Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1)
    Author: J.R. Ward
Release Date:  September 6th 2005 by Signet Eclipse
Edition: Mass Market Paperback, 393 pages

    Synopsis:
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

    My Thoughts:
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war going on between vampires and their slayers. Six vampire warriors, a secret band of brothers, defend their race, but none likes killing more than Wrath, leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Wrath is the only purebred vamp left on earth and has a score to settle with Lessers, the slayers who kill their kind and murdered his parents. But, when a member of the brotherhood is killed leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence and unaware of what she is, Wrath must lead her into a world of the undead and a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

This is an amazing read! I have read this book and this series over and over and over again. In this book you are introduced to the Black Dagger Brotherhood. They touch on each one of the brothers, but not in dept, only Wrath.

I love the storyline and I love the plot. Just amazing! But be warned, this book is not for people under the age of 18! Even if you are an adult who doesn't like reading sexual parts in a book, then I would say this book is not for you, but if you don't mind sex in a book, then I recommend this book to you because it was amazing!

I really like Wrath and Beth. Wrath is the blind King, but even though he is blind, that doesn't make him less dangerous. To me it makes him tougher. And this book is not centered around his blindness at all, it touches on it once and then that's it. Wrath is a bad ass vamp, with a bad ass attitude and doesn't take crap from nobody. But when he meets Beth, lets just say that attitude didn't make it very far when it came to her. I really liked Beth. I feel she is the perfect person for Wrath. She could calm him when need be and she brings out a side of him that no one else gets to see.

The two, Wrath and Beth, go through so much in this book. From the death of Beth's father and never getting to me him, to Wrath trying to help Beth transition in to their world and his feelings for her.

The other Brothers; Rhage, Zsadist, Vishous, Tohr, and Phury, I like already. You only know a brief amount of each one and it leaves you wanting to know more about them. The brothers who caught my attention, was Zsadist and Vishous. You will just have to see.

Butch played a big role in this book and I really like him. He was a hard ass and sarcastic. But when he meets Marissa, I loved it. And Marissa, what a sweet girl.

The Lessers, a being who use to be human but traded their souls and try to eliminate the Brotherhood. The Lessers are some dangerous scary thing. *shivers* I'm not going to touch on them much.

This book was filled with a lot of action, a lot of drama, and a lot of cursing! This is a must read people! Only if you can handle it. Are you up for the challenge? If you want to explore the adult paranormal genre, how about you start here. :)

    Musing Monday (Feb 13)

What is your favorite romantic book --or book that includes a love story? (an adult romance, young adult, kids' story, anything)

I choose a series. Since every book in the series has a happily ever after when it comes to the romance. And of course, I am talking about the Black Dagger Brotherhood series!

It's just something about this series that drew me in from the very beginning. I don't know what it is. Maybe the characters, the romance, the story line...Idk. Each brother in this series has something about them that I adore. When the brothers find there mate, I think the mates and how they act are perfect.

Zsadist and Bella are by far my favorite. I just love Zsadist! In each book, even the very first one, Dark Lover, something drew me to him. Maybe it was is pain and his anger at the world, or maybe the scars on his face and what they represented, I just wanted to know his story. And Bella was perfect for him, and I really liked her.

My favorite quote from Lover Awakened (Zsadist to Bella):
“I was dead until you found me, though I breathed. I was sightless, though I could see. And then you came...and I was awakened.”

I just love it :') I love each and every brother in this series in their own way. My next fave is Vishous! Ha, just thought I'd let ya know :) I guess I like the dark, mysterious, and screwed up type Lol

-By the way, I'm rereading and reviewing this entire series on the blog! And I am on book one, Dark Lover. So be prepared if you are interested...

BaSatai: Outside In by Suzan Battah

Title: BaSatai: Outside In (book #1)
    Author: Suzan Battah
Release Date: April 14, 2012 by Createspace
    Edition: Paperback Arc

    Synopsis:
Seventeen year old, Armani Radnelaq a full blooded BaSatai is plagued by a curse in her blood. A curse created from hate and designed to break the divide between two parallel worlds of Earth and H-trae when Armani's blood is spilled in attack and she dies.

S'teuqoubs have been travelling back and forth across the divide for centuries without trouble. The BaSatai and Guardians monitoring activity and enforcing rules to ensure peace and harmony but if the divide splits and opens, a much greater number of supernatural S’teuqoubs will filter into earth destroying equilibrium which the BaSatai and Guardians will be unable to control. Humanity and the BaSatai will suffer and perish. The parallel divide must remain secure at all costs.

Armani has remained hidden on earth with her adopted father Elijah since her birth. She has been raised in the human way and fights her natural instinct to evolve into a BaSatai. The BaSatai in her requires her to evolve and shift, use her powers and strength. Yet Armani is freaked out by the need to shift. She smokes, has a bad attitude, must deal with aggressive bullies and control her natural BaSatai instinct. Her Guardian with BaSatai Warriors are coming for her. She refuses to accept her fate and doesn't believe any BaSatai should die to protect her.

The blood curse maturing in her veins makes her a target for her enemies. Her Guardian Karhl and an elite BasSatai Warrior Rafael are the first to arrive and prepare her for her crossing over. Her attraction to Rafael complicates her purpose to stay on earth even more. They both insist she fall into line and follow their lead but she is not ready to leave earth just yet...

    My Thoughts:
Going into reading this book, I knew it was going to be different! Just by the title of the book. I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did! It was amazing and it was written in a way like it was made for me to read it. Lol If that makes any sense whatsoever! I loved the characters and I loved the whole storyline. It was just so different.

It's so hard to give a review of this book without giving away any spoilers. But I'll try....

Okay. Armani is a girl who is believe to have a curse in her blood. She's not human and she knows it and she also know the BaSatai will come back for her. She was given away to her adopted father Elijah to help mask her from the S'teuqoubs who are trying to kill her.

I really did like Armani. She was in denial about being the one with the cursed blood because she felt she was different enough from the humans. She was smart and brave, but at times she got on my nerves, I must admit. The denial and her mind set not to connect wit Rafael, who I will get to later, annoyed me. But overall, she was a great heroine.

Armani's Guardian Karhl was probably my favorite character. He was confident and sarcastic, but I loved him all the same. I really like him. (smiling right now) Rafael is Armani's, I don't know how to describe this, kind of like a soulmate. I like him a lot too! He is also one of my favorite characters. But boy does he have a temper. And what's with the Lily thing. I'm so confused about that, and I don't like that at all. I also really liked Karhl's "soulmate"! She was fun.

This book was action packed! I loved it. So many things and so many different elements went on in this book that made it amazing, but at times it was confusing. I had to reread certain parts to try to grasp the full concept.

And that ending!!!! What? So confused. And again what the hell is with this dumb Lily girl? I'm sorry bit I just didn't like her character and now I feel she has a major role to play in the next book, which I don't like, even though I knew something was up with her from the get go. BUT, *deep breaths*, whatever. It's just frustrates me! And what Karhl and Armani.....And now......

Whoa! I want to read to know when the next book releases and what is going to happen. I have way too many unanswered questions :(  But, it's a wonderful book! I definitely recommend it! Guys, you have to check this book out when it releases!

    Blurb:
Seventeen year old Pride is a tracker—a werewolf with a hunger for blood. Taught to trick and to lure, she is the perfect killing machine.
Kept leashed in the cellar by a master who is as ruthless as he is powerful, Pride dreams of freedom, of living a normal life, but escape from the compound is near impossible and disobedience comes with a price.
When she learns her master intends to breed her she knows she has to run.
But Pride soon learns that if she is to survive in the wild, she must trust in the boy who promises her freedom, the same boy she was sent to hunt.
With life and death hanging in the balance the two find themselves on the run from the Paranormal Task Force—officers who shoot first and ask questions later—as well as her master’s handlers.

    Excerpt:

    California Wine Country
August 23rd, six days until full moon
The click of the lock at the top of the stairwell is my only indication that morning is upon me. My ears perk up and I listen for the coming footfalls. The weight on the stairs combined with the creaking of each wooden step will let me know which handler has come for us this time, which unlucky puppet has drawn the short end of the straw and is stuck with letting the dogs out, or in this case, the werewolves.
Sure, he’ll come sauntering down the stairs sporting a brave face and looking at me with cold, dark eyes meant to intimidate. But the wolf inside me can smell his inner fear. Despite the fact that I’m the one caged, underneath the handler’s cool, superficial shell he’s the one who’s truly afraid.
A long column of light filters down the stairs and I blink my eyes into focus as the bright rays infiltrate the pitch black cellar. I don’t really need to blink. Not with my exceptional vision. But I do it anyway because sometimes I simply like to pretend I’m a normal seventeen year old girl, one who can’t see in the dark. It’s nonsense, I know. I’m not fooling anyone. Least of all myself.
The door yawns wider and before the first heavy boot, soiled with old blood that he’ll pass off as wine stains, hits the top step, my senses go on high alert. I never know what morning will bring—or who will bring it.
A breeze rushes down the stairs ahead of the handler, carrying the aroma of the grand estate with it. I push past the metallic scent of dried blood to catch traces of grape juice in the air, a common smell on the majestic vineyard—that and illegal drugs, the estate’s real source of income. Going beyond those familiar fragrances, I breathe deeper and get hints of fresh bread baking in the upstairs kitchen. It must be Thursday. Mica, the estate’s cook, always bakes on Thursday.
In my human form I roll onto my side and lean toward the smell. Wistfully, my tongue darts out and brushes over my bottom lip. There is something about that scent that always entices me and before I can help it I envision myself eating a warm slice covered in rich creamy butter, crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside.
My nostrils widen, but I know the bread isn’t meant for me and not even one delicious crumb will pass over my dry lips. Not unless Mica sneaks it to me. As much as I’d love to taste her offerings I don’t like it when she takes chances for me. Disobedience is far too risky for the aging housekeeper. Despite that, my stomach growls in response to the aroma and I fight off the cravings. I can’t hope for bread when it’s unlikely that I’ll even be given a scrap of food today, especially if I can’t please him.
    My master.
A boot hits the second step—the handlers always descend slowly—and as I stretch my legs out on my dusty mattress I hear the waking groans of Jace and Clover stirring in their own cages beside me. I glance their way, and that’s when my attention falls on the one empty cage in the cellar. My mother’s den. I breathe deep and fight off a pang of sadness that I cannot afford to feel.
I turn away from the empty cage and stare at the gray cement walls. I can’t bear to look at her den any longer. It only reminds me of how they killed her and how all the pups were forced to watch—to learn that disobedience comes with a price. Guilt and sorrow eat at me to think that she’d died trying to free me.
When step number five creaks, I diligently try to shake off the memories. The handler is close which means I can’t think about my mother right now. I push all thoughts of her aside, knowing that right now I have to think about my father and what he taught me before the master killed him. Never let them see your fear.
    I harden myself.
    Prepare.
Before my master’s puppet even reaches the bottom step, I know it’s the one they call Lawrence, the handler I hate the most. The one with a weak mind, strong back, teeth like baked beans and beady eyes that fit his ugly rat face.
He likes to call me kitten. I have a few choice names that I’d like to call him in return, but I always bite the inside of my cheek to resist the urge. Partly because I’d be whipped and partly because Miss Kara educated me and taught me all about manners. I realize that an educated wolf with manners might sound laughable. In my line of work, however, education and manners are as lethal as a bear trap to those I hunt. That’s how I lure my marks, how I bait my prey. A pretty face and good grace go a long way for a trained killer like me.
My glance wanders to my leg, the one peeking out from beneath my ratty blanket, and my eyes are drawn to the long jagged scar tracking the length of my calf. I grimace. Even with my education and manners, I never forget what I really am. I’m never allowed to.
“Hey kitten,” Lawrence says. Most would think the nickname is a play on my birth name, Pride. But I know it’s the handler’s way of cutting me down, to find control where he feels none. My parents called me Pride because I was their pride and joy. Lions live in a pride and since lions are cats…
He tosses a collar and chain into my cage. “Leash up.”
I take note of the gun in his holster before my glance locks on his. As I give him a good hard stare, he flinches. The movement is slight, but I notice it. Dressed in my knee length nightgown, long hair loose around my shoulders, I might look like an average seventeen year old girl—harmless and innocent—but we all know I’m not.
Even though Lawrence keeps his face blank and stares down at me with those dark eyes of his, he reeks of terror. The scent is like a mixture of hot sweat and rotting compost. Oh, it’s not pretty by any means. Nevertheless, the werewolf slumbering restlessly inside me feeds off his fear, thrives on it, so I inhale and draw it deep into my lungs.
Without taking my eyes off his, I take my time to leash up. My movements are slow and deliberate as I position the collar. Metal grinds metal and the sound cuts the silence as I secure it around my neck. The handler winces. So do the older, more obedient wolves that I bunk with.
Jace cuts me a glance, chocolate eyes now milky from old age warn me to behave. I realize he’s doing it for my own good, but this morning I’m cold and hungry and in no mood for Lawrence’s insults. Clover makes a noise to draw the handler’s attention away from me, and all sets of eyes shift to her.
As Clover tries to pacify Lawrence, averting her gaze in a show of respect and making small talk about the weather, Lawrence opens my mother’s former cage and pulls out her cot. He gives it a good hard shake and the breeze stirs the dust on the unfinished boards masquerading as our ceiling. The particles dance in the stairwell light before falling to the cold, cement floor.
When Lawrence tosses the cot into a corner I stiffen. It can only mean one thing. My mother has been gone for a little over a year now, and I know the master rarely keeps a cell empty for long, which makes me wonder when and how he’s going to fill it?
    Who will he breed?
I cringe at the thought of bringing puppies into this world, but know it’s not something I have to worry about. The master would never breed a wolf like me. My mother always said I was a survivor, the only pup in a litter of three to make it, but hey, a runt is a runt. Thanks to Darwin and his theory of ‘natural selection’ a runt is a heritable trait that a pack can do without. When it comes to canine reproduction, only one motto dictates: runts need not apply.
Deep in the bowels of the estate’s basement, the master keeps other wolves, separating the strong and young from one another. I’m smart enough to understand that he distances us so we can’t conspire against him or speak telepathically. Wolves can only use telepathy when in animal form, however. Well, most wolves that is. Oddly enough, I along with Stone, an alpha wolf two years my senior are able to communicate while in our human forms.
Sometimes the master does in-house breeding, sometimes he sends us out to one of his associates—other drug-lords who also harbor werewolves. It’s like he’s running a regular old puppy mill in here. Except his puppies kill for him. Which begs the question, what does my master have in store for me today?

    Author Interview:

    1.    Where is the current place you reside and can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

While I’ve lived all over Canada I’ve settled in Eastern Canada in the idyllic province of Nova Scotia.
Besides being a writer, I’m a wife, mom, sister, friend and dog lover.  My husband is a meteorologist, my son in a first year university student, and my daughter is in grade 12.  My day consists of writing, twitter, facebook, walking the dog, exercising, and cooking and cleaning when time permits.  (As you can see those last two things aren’t top priority

    2.    Have you always wanted to be an author and what or who inspired you to become a writer?
Someone asked me this very question yesterday!  No, I never grew up wanting to be a writer and hadn’t considered it as a career until my mid twenties.  In fact, I went to university and began a science degree, determined to be a doctor.  But things changed and I switched universities and ended up doing a Business/commerce degree.  I went to work in the finance department for our federal government, but when my husband got posted to Labrador Newfoundland, and we were separated for three months after just getting married, I knew something had to give.  It was when I moved to Labrador to be with him, and eventually ran out of books to read that I first put pen to paper.

    3.    How old where you when you wrote your first book?
Twenty four.  That book is hidden away somewhere, never, ever to see the light of day.  LOL.  But then I put the writing aside when I had my kids.  It was after my daughter started primary that I really decided I wanted to do this.  Staying at home and writing in my fuzzy bunny slippers sounded so much more appealing then getting up every morning, getting the kids off to school, then rushing off to some finance job that I knew I’d hate.

    4.    Do you take part in designing the covers of you books?
I fill out art forms and most times the artists run with my suggestions making the covers more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.  I don’t like to give too many details because I want the artist to work their magic!  They know how to do it way better than I do!

    5.    Do you have any bad habits that you do when reading a book?

Yes, and I do it with movies too.  It drives my husband crazy.  I don’t always read the endings, or watch the last five minutes of a movie.  Once I know the hero and heroine have worked through their problems, and that happily ever after is just around the corner, I’m out!  LOL

    6.    Are you currently reading any books?
I always have tons of books on the go!  I have them in every room of the house, on my new Ipad, my kobo, in the car, in my purse!!

    7. Who are some of you favorite author?
I have SO many.  Suzanne Collins, Julie Kagawa, Maggie Stiefvater, Andrea Cremer, Richelle Mead, Robin Wasserman.....just to name a few.

    8.     Do you have any advice for those who want to become writers?
Write!  Everyday.  Practice and practice some more.  And when you’re tired of practicing, PRACTICE! Learn the craft. (I’m still learning) Join organizations, critique groups, and associate with positive people who you can trust.

    9.    Where is your favorite place to read a book?
I just bought a brand new comfy chair and electric fireplace for my office.  I like to curl up in my chair with the fire going beside me and lose myself in a book!

    10.    Where can people find your books?
Pride’s Run can be found here, http://www.amazon.com/Prides-Run-ebook/dp/B0062O0B3E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325785480&sr=8-2 and Pride Unleashed will be available in February!
