Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....
Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young—just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.
Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one.
Lover At Last is finally here and I finished all 591 pages in a day :) I could not wait to get my hands on this book! And let me tell you now that I devoured it. I could not put it down. I had to know what would happen with Qhuinn and Blay. I also loved being back in the world of the BDB because its always a breath of fresh air for me. This book did not disappoint me at all! J.R. Ward is AMAZING! Even though this installment is with two guys (gay romance) I didn't have an issue with it. I didn't think I would since I was excited for the book, but since I've never read a book involving gay romance, this was a relief! Overall, awesome installment! But whose story will be next?! Usually at the end of a bdb book, I know who the next book will be about. MY TOP SERIES...EVER!

The one thing I will say about this book was, I need more Qhuinn and Blay! They were actually there a lot, but I feel they could have been there more if some of the other parts of the story were cut out. Assail and Sola, you guys were interesting enough, but I really don't give a damn about you! I don't even remember who Assail was or is, besides a drug dealer...I could have done without them though! But will their story be next or something?! I don't know. But anyways, I don't want to ramble on and on about Qhuinn and Blay, but Ward, you can torture the mind! Considering everything these two have been through with each other, I was happy with the end result. We see a side of Qhuinn that we never really get to see that often and Blay was a little intense at times. I didn't know he had it in him! Every moment I had with those two, I cherished :) I loved every second of it. And the Chosen, Layla, wasn't a headache like I thought she was going to be. I thought that her being pregnant would bring a lot of issue, but it didn't. But I'm confused about where her and Xcor will lead too.

The action in this book was amazing, just like all the others! And as I've said before, I LOVED the romance and couldn't get enough. I'm just so happy for those two! Don't that fool you though, there are awful things brewing that I can't wait to see revealed. The anticipation is a killer. I thought we'd find out in this book, but of course, we don't...I don't want to speak too much on that though. I can't wait for the next installment :) Oh yeah, I was glad to see a little bit more of the shadows even though their part could have been cut out too just so I could satisfy my Qhuinn and Blay fix. I'm just saying...

  1. This is one of these series that everyone are talking about but I don't have courage to start. I mean this is not my genre, but still I will probably give it a try as this series is translated into my language. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. :)
