When eighteen-year-old Irene Adler meets her new neighbor, the gorgeous, brilliant, and arrogant Sherlock Holmes, she never expects him to be the one to make her feel like life is worth living again. Ever since her sister's death, she's been addicted to risk-taking as a way to deal with her depression, and Sherlock quickly becomes the biggest risk she's ever taken.
Locked is the story of a broken girl and the genius who gives her life back to her. It's the story of a witty asshole who's never known love, and the girl who shows him what love means. It's the story of an unexpected connection, two people who save each other, and the importance of seeing the goodness underneath.
Locked turned out to be a complete surprise for me! I didn't know what to expect going into this book. All I knew about it was that it was a take on Sherlock Holmes. Now I don't know much about Sherlock Holmes besides the solving of mysteries, so I honestly didn't really know much going into the story. I saw a movie once, but I can't remember anything about it...Okay so that's kind of irrelevant, but anyways :) This book was action packed and full of fun mysteries to solve. I haven't been this excited about a book in quite sometime. I could not put the book down! I flew the Locked in a day and was sad when the book ended because I wanted more. I would definitely recommend this book if you like fun reads and mysteries. I'd also recommend this book to those who like sarcastic characters.

The characters in this book turned out to be awesome! The only bad thing I can say is that it took me about 15% to really get into the story. I wasn't really use to the characters at that point, but once I got into the book, I couldn't put it down. Sherlock grew on me and turned out to be my favorite of the two! I loved his attitude and his way of thinking. Those quick come backs and remarks kept me extremely entertained. Irene, the main character, was pretty interesting as well. She's struggling with the death of her sister and she also struggles with depression. She hasn't gotten over the death and struggles with it on a daily basis. I like that she didn't immediately heal from her issues when she met Sherlock. The two were a distraction and that slowly developed into a friendship which later developed into more :) I can appreciate that in a story. The developing friendship was the best part. Sherlock was a complete loner and everyone pretty much hated him because of the things he said. The boy had no filter whatsoever! The two together just warmed my heart.

OMG, I cried... Yes, I cried! I have a tendency to do that in books because I am just so darn sensitive. My poor little heart just couldn't handle it. I cannot wait for the next book! I'm super excited because I haven't been this excited about a sequel in months. I would have given this one 5 stars, but like I said before the beginning to took me a moment to get use to. Overall, the book was amazing! And if you like mysteries, I'd definitely recommend this to you :)

  1. The title makes me think of the BBC Sherlock. The Irene Adler in that show is "Sher-locked". I suppose that's where the author got it from. Sounds like a good book though! I do love all these new adaptations of Sherlock.
