Rules Are Different Outside The Society
Chasing down an uncertain future, Cassia makes her way to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky--taken by the Society to his sure death--only to find that he has escaped into the majestic, but treacherous, canyons. On this wild frontier are glimmers of a different life and the enthralling promise of a rebellion. But even as Cassia sacrifices every thing to reunite with Ky, ingenious surprises from Xander may change the game once again.Narrated from both Cassia's and Ky's point of view, this hotly anticipated sequel to Matched will take them both to the edge of Society, where nothing is as expected and crosses and double crosses make their path more twisted than ever.
The thing about this series is that it has a great story within, but the books are just slow paced. Slow paced to the point of where you tend to get bored. But if you overlook the slowness, the story itself is amazing!
Crossed is way more slow paced than Matched. But like I said before, if you overlook the slow paced way of the book you will find the wonderful story that lies within. The characters that we already know and loved in Matched are all the same. Xander, Cassia, and Ky are still going. They face many struggles, but have so much determination that they face everything head on. There were tons of emotions running through this book. And I really love that we see so much more of Ky! Yes, team Ky all the freaking way :D
Also in this book, we are introduced to some new characters who make the story all the more interesting. I still don't know how I feel about Indie. She's too secretive. But I have this hope with her stealing Cassia's microchip that something there develops between her and a certain someone. But maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Eli and Vick were also some amazing characters and I was glad so meet them.
This story had a new purpose to and there were MANY shocking secrets reveal that left my mind boggled! I have some questions answered, but now there's a whole new set of them that needs to be answered. The whole thing with the Rising, how will things turn out?!
I really enjoyed this sequel (besides the slowness) and if you liked Matched, I hope you give Crossed a try and pick it up! I can't wait to see how this series concludes in the final book, Reached :D
It is really slow paced but a great story. I love Xander but also have a soft spot for Ky. I didn't finish so I didn't reach the secret revealing part but hope to pick this up again before the last book comes out.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this book. Great review :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also Team Ky and I though this second book was slower paced than the first, so I had kind of mixed feelings about it, even though I loved it. I know, sounds crazy, right? lol
ReplyDeleteAnyway, even though I liked Matched better than the second book, I am dying to "reach" the conclusion of the trilogy and read Reached asap =]
