If I Stay
by Gayle Forman
In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...
A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.
Why I Recommend
This was a very emotional read for me. I cried like a big ol' baby throughout the book. But the story itself and the relationship between Mia and Adam is what truly got me. This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad she introduced me to it. And let me tell you now, the sequel was just as good to me. If you like stories that involve a lot of emotions, then I definitely recommend this to you!Quotes
“I realize now that dying is easy. Living is hard.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
“And that's just it, isn't it? That's how we manage to survive the loss. Because love, it never dies, it never goes away, it never fades, so long as you hang on to it.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
“If you stay, I'll do whatever you want. I'll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I'll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it'd be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I'd do it. I can lose you like that if I don't lose you today. I'll let you go. If you stay.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
“Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay

ReplyDeleteGood recommendation! I adored this one - and it's one of the very few novels that brought me to tears :) Have you read Where She Went yet? Because for some reason, I've been putting it off for over a year now...
ReplyDeleteI put off where she went too for the longest, but was mad that it took me so long to read it! I liked it just as much is I did If I stay :)
DeleteI hear this series is SO good! It's pretty far up my TBR list, so I'm hoping to get to it in the next couple of weeks.
