Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.
Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.
The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.
Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

This was another amazing installment in the covenant series! Just like all the others, this book kept me wanting more as I continued through the story. There was a ton of action going on throughout the book that made me not want to put the book down! And there was way more romance than I thought there was going to be, which is a plus for me :) And might I add that this is my favorite cover out of all the books in the series. I am now dying for the release of Sentinel, the final book! I received a physical ARC from the publisher for my honest review.

Alex has now officially been awakened and became the Apollyon. The beginning of this book was torturous for me seeing that side of Alex. That was not the Alex I knew. The 'My Seth' thing was killer. I wanted to reach through the book slap some sense into her, but Alex came to mature in this book. I would say she matured THAT much, but she went through some developments that made her a stronger person. She also kept her anger under control a lot more in this book. But she was still Alex and had all her snarky comments at the ready which never fells to make me laugh. And there was Aiden! Yes, I am definitely an Aiden lover :) I freaking adore him to pieces. He continued to be his strong, brave, and loving self. He actually went through some development as well, especially when it came to his brother. Now there is one other, Seth, who is always lingering in the background like a gnat. Throughout these books I've tried to like Seth, but he makes it so hard. Sometimes I might find an ounce of sympathy for him, but then he does something that throws all that out the window.

The romance department of this book was awesome for me because I really didn't think there would be that much involved. I thought it would just be Seth and Alex's crazy 'fate' taking over the book. And there was so much action that blew my mind. Many awesome and disturbing things happened that kept my fingers flicking the pages. And OMG, there was no horrific cliffhanger! SHOCKER I SAY, SHOCKER! Oh, and we finally find out the lineage of Seth. I had kind of already guessed the god before everyone else seemed to have. How did I put two and two together before Alex did when she already knew the answer? I can't wait to see what happens in the final book :) And this is a MUST READ!

  2. Like you, I really did my best to like Seth, but he made it almost impossible. I love that Alex still has faith in him, but I don't.
Alex has grown so much between Deity and Apollyon, it's simply wonderful to follow her growth. And Aiden... OMG; let's not even go there. :)
