Top Ten Tuesday (26): To Read or Not To Read

Hosted by: the Broke and Bookish

This Week's Topic: Top Ten Books I'm Not Sure I Want To Read
I haven't done one of these post in so long! And I thought this one would a be a good one to do. I have quite a few of these and I'm going to include a little bit of everything from overhyped to just not interested anymore.

1. The Fault In Our Stars - This book was way too over hyped for me so I was already hesitant. And then I let my mom read it before me and she spoiled the crap out of it so I pretty much lost interest after that. I mean when my mom spoils a book, SHE SPOILS A BOOK! From page one to the end...
2. Soul Screamers  - Once again, I let my mom get to the series before me (she reads faster than I do). And she spoiled me. I can you what happened from book one to the end of the series and I haven't cracked open a none of the volumes (and I have them all). KEY ISSUE: Stop letting your mom beat you to the books. She can't help herself. She must talk about the books when she finishes it lol

3. Die For Me - This is a book I've had on my shelf for years. I wanted to start the series, but I kept pushing it off and now I don't know when I'll ever get to it.
4. Uglies - I just don't think I have an interest in reading the book anymore.

5. Falling Under - I honestly don't even know why I bought this book.I think it was on sale for $3 and I just decided to get it.
6. Pushing the Limits - It's been so long since the first book came out, but I do want to give it a try.
7. Just One Day - I love If I Stay and Where She Went but haven't decided on this one yet.
8. Fifty Shade of Grey - Thing is, I started it months ago. I just don't know if I'll find time to finish it. I didn't hate it, but I was busy at the time and just stopped reading it.
9. Friday Night Bites - I enjoyed book one, but I'm so far behind in the series idk if I'll ever catch up.
10. Hallowed - I think I've lost interest in the trilogy. Book one was good, but I don't think I'll ever read the sequel.

  2. The Fault In Our Stars is one I haven't read yet, just like you, due to the hype.
The Soul Screamers was okay, but not totally rocked my world, but I've only read this first volume so far. I have been told they get better.
I really liked Die For Me, it was a new kind of paranormal, and I liked the writing style. However, I haven't moved on in the series yet, so I don't know if it gets better or worse.
Pushing the Limits totally rocked for me. I LOVED it. Haven't gotten around to any of the sequels yet, but I have them on my shelf and plan on reading them at some point.
Shades of Grey was... Well, I didn't hate it, like you, but it wasn't something I'd recommend, and I don't think I'll re-read it. Ever.

  3. I didn't like Hallowed as much as Unearthly but I absolutely adored Boundless, so I'm glad I continued on. I really like Die For Me. It's hard to invest in series though, they're such a commitment.

  4. Ouch that's why my mom never reads the same books as I do. That woman cannot shut up about whatever she is reading. So yeah I understand the pain. Sorry that she spoiled TFIOS for you. It's a great book really. But I hope you'll read Pushing the Limits soon. It's such a great book. Great post, Janina :)

  5. That's a shame about Soul Screamers I loved that series! I can't believe your mom would spoil you like that. So uncool!

Also LOVE Chloe Neill's series and enjoyed Hand's trilogy too!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. And that's exactly why I tell my mom I'm going to read anything we read together first. Because she would do the same thing. She almost told me the ending to Mockingjay, but I hung up on her and called back saying the call dropped lolol

  7. The Fault In Our Stars is so wonderful. Sorry your mom spoiled it! ;)

Just One Day is fantastic (but different from her other books)! Very swoonworthy and realistic.

    Awesome list!

  8. I want to read both Uglies and Hallowed. I read Unearthly quite recently and although it was enjoyable, I disliked the love triangle. Hopefully it gets better.

  9. I really like the Pushing the Limits series. Each book has a great romance that has depth to it and the writing is just amazing! However, I am glad she ended the series because the stories started to became repetitive.
Please read Just One Day! I love it and in my opinion it is so much better then If I Stay! I wish more people read it.

  10. Spoilers suck :( but The fault in our stars is a beautiful story. Die for me was 'mweh' so I don't highly recommend that one. I will never touch 50 shades, totally not my cup of tea.

  11. Oh noo, I can't believe your mum spoiled the series for you! That's definitely something that would turn me off reading a series. I'm the same with the Uglies series, I have the box set but I have never felt inclined to read it. Haha you're not missing out with 50 shades either.
