Bad Blood
(Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter, #3)
by Nikki Jefford
Released |June 2nd 2014|
Genres |Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult|
Add to Goodreads
Aurora returns from boot camp to a new assignment, an unwelcome roommate, and the increasingly amorous attentions of a certain vampire hunter.
College is starting, and so is Aurora’s undercover work at a network of swanky parties known as “Tastings” for high rolling vampires who like their blood laced with fine wine. But Aurora’s not the only one on the prowl. An underground investigation is under way to find out who killed one of Anchorage’s most prominent vampires… and Aurora is a prime suspect.
I've been really excited to read Bad Blood ever since I finished Northern Bites. Bad Blood is the third installment in the Aurora Sky Vampire Hunter series and it did not disappoint. The one thing I love about this series is that it is fast paced and exciting. This was a very quick read for me and was disappointed when I reached the last page of the book because I wanted more. I wish the book was thicker so I could be with the characters for just a little bit longer. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and excitement as things started to unravel.

Cover Re-reveal: Aurora Sky

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either. Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter in Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis before she has to finish the job...by hand. Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire. And if he's a vampire, will she be forced to kill him?   AURORA SKY: VAMPIRE HUNTER is the first in a YA Mature/New Adult paranormal fantasy series.

This was so, so good! I must admit that I enjoyed the sequel, Northern Bites, a whole lot better than book one. Book one, was great, but Northern Bites surpassed all my expectations :) It was action packed and kept me on edge the entire book. The characters were also really fun and entertaining. I can't wait to get my hands on the third installment. Thanks so much Nikki for providing me with a review copy!

In this installment, Aurora definitely grew on me. In book one, I thought she was a bit whinny, but not at all in this one. Aurora turned out to be kind of bad ass :) I really like Aurora's way of thinking in this book. She didn't take the easy way out in certain situations when she could have. But I also felt bad for her though. Her mom is quite the character, but I did feel some sympathy for her as well. So many changes have happened in both there lives.

The big shocker, I don't hate Valerie anymore. The girl grew on me in this book even though she's still, ya know, the same. We got to know her a tad bit better when the two had to room together. Hope she makes an appearance in book three. Now Noel, I can't believe her. I've never wanted to smack a character so much in my life. Really, Noel...Really? Were you that desperate? And I am now Team Dante. He's such a lovable character and his demeanor and personality really makes you want to just give him a kiss!

The action was awesome, of course! I wanted more when I got to the end of the book! And I would love to see more interaction between Aurora and Dante. Things kind of got a bit intense with those two at times. Fang, can bite the dust! Jerk... I need book three now! I would definitely recommend this to you vamp lovers out there :)

If you are a vampire/vampire hunter book lover, then I think this book would be for you. I really enjoyed the story and the writing style of Nikki Jefford. The new concept of the vampire hunter that she brought along really caught my attention. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next installment! I definitely think you should give this book a try :)

Author Interview: Nikki Jefford

Hey everyone :)
I am so happy to share with you my author interview with Nikki Jefford.
I would really like to thank her for taking the time and answering my questions and I am so happy to share them with you! She gave some fantastic answers :) Be sure to check them out.

1. Well to start off, Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a third generation Alaskan, 35, now living in Friday Harbor, WA – on an island without a single traffic light. I love nature hikes, baking, hot chocolate, romantic comedies, travel, foreign accents and languages, and most of all, spending time with my husband and dog.

2. When did you first know you wanted to become a writer/author? Any inspirations?
I was painfully shy growing up. My mom remarried when I was six and we ended up moving all the time. I went to a new school every single year from kindergarten until high school. Creating characters kept me company. I also grew up in an abusive household and reading and writing provided instant escapism. Stories, my own and others, took me to better places.

3. I have to ask! Since Entangled is about witches and Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter is about vampires, which do you prefer reading about vamps or witches? Why?
Great question! Funny enough, my favorite reads don’t feature witches or vampires. I enjoy strong female protagonists, especially when set in a fantasy world: Katniss in The Hunger Games; Trice in Divergent; Kara in The Grimoire Trilogy, Karou in Daughter of Smoke and Bone; Calaena in Throne of Glass; Sloane in This Is Not a Test…young women are kicking butt and authors are getting more and more imaginative. I’m a happy reader!

4. Do you take any part in creating any of your books' book covers?
I picked out the cover model and color schemes for all the Spellbound books. I tried to do the same with Aurora Sky. I found a model in a parka who looked exactly how I imagined Aurora (with blond hair). My designer humored me, but, as she pointed out, it looked like a cheesy winter romance. I love what she did with the final cover. It screams Alaska to me and adventure. I loved the manipulation of the model image so much I changed Aurora’s hair color to black in the book. LOL
