Author Bio
Rachel McClellan was born and raised in Idaho, a place secretly known for its supernatural creatures. When she's not in her writing lair, she's partying with her husband and four crazy, yet lovable, children. Rachel's love for storytelling began as a child when the moon first possessed the night. For when the lights went out, her imagination painted a whole new world. And what a scary world it was...

The Paranormal in Fractured Soul
Write about the paranormal aspect in Fractured Soul. This may include the type of paranormal in the book, the research you may have done, any changes you may have made or added to suit the plot and how you wanted the paranormal aspect to fit, why you chose to add a paranormal aspect, etc. Length shouldn’t be longer than 4 paragraphs.

My main character, Llona Reese, is an Aura, which gives her the ability to control and manipulate light. This is called Photokinesis. Some times this will also involve the ability to see other’s auras. There are several people who claim to have this gift, specifically psychics and mediums.

Other gifts were given to my secondary characters. May, Llona’s best friend, is a Fury, which means she has the ability to create and control fire. In the beginning of the story, May doesn’t have control of her ability, but when she goes to Lucent Academy and is trained by Dr. Han, an older kick-ass Fury, she becomes a force to be reckon with. However, this power comes with a price, and soon May will face her own demons.

A new character introduced in Fractured Soul is Liam. He is an Enlil with the ability to create and control wind. This ability is called Aerokinesis. I took this gift a step further and made it possible for Liam to turn into wind at will. He can also hear things from great distances by using the wind to carry sounds to him.

There are a few new characters, too, but I gave them all original gifts. Tessa, for example, is a Lizen with the ability to breathe under water. She also has super acid spit that comes in handy. I can’t tell you much I enjoy bringing these characters to life! It’s fun to watch them take their supernatural gifts and turn them into something that not only benefits their own lives, but the lives of their friends.

Book One

I’m dying, I thought. This was unexpected and not at all how I envisioned my death. I was supposed to die gardening in a flowerbed as a hundred-year-old woman, not as a seventeen-year-old trapped in a lake beneath inches of ice.
Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. She can’t take any chances. But when she starts to make friends for the first time in her life, she gets careless and lets her guard down. Big mistake.
As an Aura, Llona can manipulate light and harness its energy. But if she wants to survive, Llona will have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use her power as a weapon against the Vyken whose sole desire is to take her light. Now she’s caught in something even bigger than she can understand, with a power she can’t wield, and no one she can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger.
In this breathtaking and romantic adventure, Rachel McClellan delivers a truly mesmerizing story that will keep you guessing to the very end.
