Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.
As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.
OMG! This was so much better than I thought it was going to be. I didn't know how the author would be able to incorporate completely different characters into the series and still keep Cinder involved, but she did it! Cinder was involved throughout the book and I was super excited when she made her first appearance. I thought this was a fantastic sequel to Cinder and I am dying for the release of book 3!

Scarlet was a pretty interesting character to get to know. Her grandmother has been kidnapped, the police have given up the search for her and Scarlet is determined to find her all on her own. But soon Scarlet finds out that her grandmother has been keeping secrets that have put the entire family in danger. Scarlet was a very brave girl! It didn't matter how much danger she was put in or what happened along the way, she would not stop until she found her grandmother. At times, she was a bit annoying and I must say I didn't like her as much as I love Cinder. And then we meet Wolf, which from the beginning, I was skeptical of him. He was a pretty interesting character as well, but he didn't have that 'it' quality that I look for in a guy. He had the mysterious thing going, but other than that, I didn't really care too much for him. I liked him, but not all that much. I believe if his character had been developed a tad bit more, I would have liked him better.

And then Cinder appears! I was so stoked to see her. And we didn't just see her here and there/ She was in a great amount of the book. And Cinder was, of course, Cinder. I love how the author incorporated the two characters within the story and how there lives coincided with one another and they didn't even know it. I think that's what I enjoyed the most about the story.

Not much romance in the book. There was a little bit towards the end though, but I didn't mind that there wasn't much of it because of all the awesome action we get. And I kind of wish there was a little bit more of Kai. He was in the book here and there. And grrr, I was so disappointed in his decision towards the end. But, I think it will make for a great book 3 :) I can't wait! There was tons of action and this book was a definite page turner! I highly recommend this series :)
