January 2012 Reading Goal

-Okay my plans for the month of January 2012 is to not buy anymore books and finish reading the ones on my shelves and kindle. Two of the books are pre-ordered so why not add them to the list.

My Thoughts:
Mara Dyer wakes up to no memory of the accident that she she survive but killed her friends. As life gets stranger and with all she's went through, is it possible for her to find love?

Amazing! I loved this book so much. It was so well written, the characters were amazing and the plot was wonderful. This book kept me wanting more. I always wanted to know what happened next. It just had so many components that I loved.

Lets start with the characters. Mara Dyer went through so much after the accident and couldn't remember single thing from it. I loved Mara's character a lot. You could relate. If you went through what she went through with the death of your friends and couldn't figure out what happened for you to survive and they not. Crazy! Oh, and Mara also has a "gift". And that gift, creepy.

Not going to say what but...You'll just have to read it to find out. Noah! I loved Noah. I loved the relationship that goes on with him and Mara from the very beginning. His laid back, overly confident, smart mouth attitude. Loved him. And he surprised me with what he could do when he and Mara put everything out on the table.

Daniel and Joseph, Mara's brothers, where some good side characters. Daniel played the big brother role really well and I like that about him. Joseph was too cute and too intelligent for his own good, considering the fact that he's only 12.
"Wait!" My little brother shot up from the coach and ran to his room. He returned with his cell phone. "What's you number?" he asked Noah. Noah looked surprised, but he gave it to him anyway. "What are you doing, Joseph?" I asked. "Networking," my brother said, still concentrating on his phone.

Too Cute.

There were some funny moments in this book, to where I burst out laughing out of nowhere and my sister gave me some funny looks.

Jude. Oh Jude, I don't like you one bit! You are despicable. And that ending! I was like, what? Your kidding me? I so didn't expect that one bit! Michelle Hodkin, your good!

Overall, amazing book! A page turner every step of the way. I seriously recommend this book. Give it a go, I think you'll like it.

My Thoughts: 
Cinder is about a cyborg, who has a stepmother who hates her and will do anything to get rid of her. There is a deadly plague that is spreading throughout the city of New Beijing and as she becomes close to Prince Kai, Cinder must find the answers to her past in order to realize the starting point of her struggles between loyalty, betrayals, and freedom.

I loved this book so much! It was so different. I won this book in Audio format in a giveaway. Let me start with the audiobook itself. The narrator was fun to listen to. She didn't bore me and she wasn't monotone! She was fun, got the accents to a tee, and spoke in an energetic manner that made you want to keep listening.

Since it was audio, I don't know how to spell some of the names. But anyway. Cinder was an amazing character. She was different. People judge her for what she was and she had a "Dysfunctional" family. If family is the word for the people in her life. With her struggle to find out anything from before her surgery at 11, I found the adventures and the events leading up to the reveal fascinating. And I want to know what she is going to do for her Android that she built herself, who was so cute and adorable. She reminded me of a child who got excited about every little thing. Cinder and Prince Kai.... I loved all the parts with the two together. I loved those little awkward moments Cinder had when she was around him!

Prince Kai made a great male crush in this book. He was confident but you could see the confusion on certain things he didn't know about, which I liked. He was nice to Cinder, from the very beginning. He always wanted the best for his people and always gave his all. But he kind of disappointed towards the end there. I need to know what is going on with that.

The doctor, was kind of hilarious to me. I was a little iffy about him in the beginning because I didn't know what to expect of him, but I like him more as the story progressed. He and Cinder..Great team!

The queen of Lunar is something else. I don't even know how to describe her. Just evil and manipulating, and condensing, and just so many things! Prince Kai, why won't you listen?! There was an amazing amount of action in the book was just to my liking, along with the romance.

Overall this book was amazing. Something people need to get their hands on immediately! Just blew my mind. I did not want to stop listening to this book. I listened to it in the car, doing house work, and just lounging in the bed. Amazing read! Oh and it kind of reminds me of Cinderella in certain parts!

-This book. THIS BOOK was amazing but so sad. Definitely a tearjerker for me.

5. The Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick
-I read them all this year and it is one of my fave angel series.

6. The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa
-One of my all time favorite series. These are the first fairy books I've read and are amazing! Ash all the way =)

7. The Maze Runner Trilogy by James Dashner
-This series blew my mind. I loved it so much and I read them all this year and loved them!

8. The Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer
-Loved it. I was so hesitant to read this series because of the love triangle but as you guys no, I am a sucker for bad boys! Team Ren.Can't wait for Bloodrose to be released.

9. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
-Amazing! So glad I read this book. Another Fave angel series! Can't wait for Hallowed.

10. Darkness Unbound and Darkness Rising by Keri Arthur
-My only non YA books on here but I recently read these and love them. The spinoff of the Riley Jenson series with Risa. Love it!

My Thoughts:
Bitten is about a girl named Elena who, by the way, is a werewolf. Living in Canada with her boyfriend, a strange turn of events happens that forces her back to aid her pack, reluctantly. Now dealing with the issues with her pack, she also has to deal with the man who bit her and turned her and also has to deal with the feelings she has for him.

I loved this book! I love Elena and Clay's relationship. Elena as a character is so fun. She also bad ass and has an attitude to match. Clay is my fave. He was so determined. This book was definitely a page turner. I always wanted to know what happened next. I read it in one day. Nick and Antonio were fun characters. They brought in the comedy! Jeremy. Loved him also! He's so calm, cool, and collected. But he can be a hazard to your health, if you catch my drift.

The action in this book was amazing. You could visualize exactly what happened as you read the book. One thing that I loved! And seriously Daniel? Did not see that coming at the time, but after I read it, I was like "Oh, that makes sense."

Overall this book was amazing! I really enjoyed it! And I recommend this series to people who love this genre.

My Thoughts: 
This is the second installment in the Dark Angel series by Keri Arthur. Risa will just about anything to help her get justice on the people who murdered her mother, including make a pact with the most evil vampire she has ever met. Also, someone had been attacking the elders of the local council making the age rapidly, go mad, and die. And to top it off, Risa's father has gotten her into a dangerous mission that may become the cause to her destruction..

This book was amazing! A wonderful sequel to the first book, Darkness Unbound. The characters continue to develop and the action just keep getting better and better. But I am starting not to like a certain someone.

The characters make the book. Risa is always amazing and on the top of her game in more ways than one. I love her attitude and how she feels the need to try and protect everyone around her. Her, how do I put this, desires are always "enjoyable". It keeps you entertained and turns up the heat in the story.

Lucian...I'm really starting not to like him. Something about him just throws me off. It seems he always has his own agenda and you can never tell if he's lying or not. He kind of annoyed me in this book, especially towards the end.

Azriel! I love him. I loved him and Risa moments. I like his character. The way he acts, his attitude, and his fierceness. I want something to develop between him and Risa so bad. I'm itching for it and hope it happens.


And the evil vamp, Madeline....Not going to even touch that subject.

And that ending was definitely a cliff hanger. Not to please to have to wait until the next book releases. Amazing sequel, I cannot wait until the next book. For people 18+ and really definitely recommend this series, especially for those of you who liked the Riley Jenson series.

My Thoughts:
It had been six years since Hunter Cassidy disappeared from Alexis Baptiste's life, leaving her alone and pregnant without a clue to where he went. But just as she began to move on with her life, he shows up and rescues her from an assassin and she is forced to go on the run with him to protect her and her son's life. Hunter is determined to protect Cassidy and their son from the rogue CIA agents who ruined his life. But denying his feelings for Cassidy is going to be one of the hardest challenges he goes up against.

This eBook was provided to me by NetGalley.com and I am so glad I got the chance to read it. I enjoyed this book so much. The characters, the romance, and especially all the action packed moments in this book. It was a page turner. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I couldn't put this book down.

I loved the storyline. I feel it was written out amazingly well. The characters were all enjoyable. Let's start with Cassidy. I understand her confusion and her issues with Hunter, considering the fact he left her all those years ago. They try and deny their feeling for each other all throughout this book, but I actually liked that fact because it was so realistic. No one is just going to let someone, after so many years, waltz back into their lives and it's turns into a happy reunion right off the bat. Hunter was a great character. You have to admire his determination to keep Cassidy and their son safe. I love that he, not necessarily hardcore, but he's tough. He had a tough life and I could understand why responded to certain situations the way he did. And their son Johnathon. He was the light throughout the book. He was so cute and sweet, I loved every moment of the book he was in.

Okay... The thing I am a little confused on was Michael. Once Cassidy did what she did, he just disappeared from the story. I though he was suppose to help out. But after that last phone call, maybe that was it. I don't know, still kind of confused on that.

The end, when things start falling into place.....Loved it! It was written out perfectly.

Overall, this book was definitely a page turner, filled with action, and filled with romance. Three of my favorite things I look for in a book. I recommend this to people over the age of 18 that like these three things about a book!

My Thoughts:
Tianna has been going through an emotional journey with the issues her ex-husband left with her after their divorce. Dealing with self-esteem issues, left her to deny her on sexual fantasies. But when Army Captain Alex Montoya comes home on leave after being injured on duty, he has his mind set on bringing out all her hidden desires and to help with her deal with issues of low self-esteem, even with the fact that Tianna's brother is Alex's best friend.

This book was amazing. I really enjoyed the connection between Tianna and Alex. You could feel the chemistry between the two from the very beginning. They had a heated sexual attraction to each other that made the book very enjoyable.

Lets talk about the characters. I really liked Tianna. She was shy and kind and to me it seems she has a quiet authority to her in her own way. Even with all her self-esteem issues, you could tell she wanted to overcome it, but with the way her husband treated her, he already planted that seed of doubt in her mind. Alex was my favorite. I loved the fact that he was Military. I have always wanted to read a couple of books that has the army in it in one form or another. Alex just had sex appeal. He knew what he wanted and had his mind set on what it was. There was no changing it. You could tell he was a Captain just by the way he responded to certain things, whether it was with his actions or with his words. He was a pleasure to read about. Tianna's ex-husband was awful. He's the controlling type, something I despise in a man. I feel his character was written out perfectly for the part.

Something was missing in this book for me, I must say. I think it was because there wasn't enough drama. I like for there to be drama in books. Not a lot, but not to little. I feel there could have been more in some places. In that aspect, it was lacking.

But all in all, I really enjoyed this book! It was a quick read and kept me turning the pages. This book is definitely for people 18 and older. If this is the kind of book you enjoy, I really think you should give this a go!

 What’s one book you always recommend to just about anyone?

-For Paranormal Adult Romance readings, I always recommend, The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J R Ward. This series is one of my all time favorites and plus these are my fave vampire boys. Love them all! Zsadist and Vishous are my babies!!! I have read all the books.
This is just such an amazing series. Definitely for readers 18 and older.

-For the young adult readers, I recommend the Iron Fey series. Love this series and have read every book. This series is just so intriguing. So much of everything. A page turner in every book. So much action and adventure. Ash and Puck are my fave. Ash, my lovely winter prince. And Puck my hilarious comedian!
I always recommend this series. Definitely a fave! And I just realized I say definitely a lot! Lol

My Thoughts:
When a girl named Skye meets two complete strangers on her seventeenth birthday, her world is turned upside down. As things progressed, she begins doubting her past, and has to make a choice between Devin and Asher, light and dark. So many secrets, so much to loose.

This book was amazing. I loved every single character! The plot/ storyline was written in a way that blew my mind. Now me and my issues with love triangles did not take effect in this book. I actually enjoyed it. Let's start with the characters. Skye, I think Skye was a great heroine! She was enjoyable and her confusion between the two boys did not annoy me. I can't wait to see how her character and powers develop.

The boys...I guess I'll start with Devin. Devin was the quiet, follow every rule kind of boy, but there was something about him that I didn't trust. I enjoyed the parts in the book with him in there. And what's the deal with the Raven girl. I really don't like her and she came out of nowhere. Conniving, evil girl. But Devin, you disappointed me. I had high hopes that you would prove me wrong with the things I felt about you. Not happy with that end performance you gave!!

Asher. Loved him from the get go! Ash you guys know, I love the bad boys! I always root for them. He was fun, wild but caring. You could tell he liked Skye from the beginning. I really liked the relationship they developed with each other! Team Asher over here =).

I want to know what happens next! Can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who hasn't already read it. Amazing!

My Thoughts:
Men of the Otherworld is a collection of stories of the men from Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherwold series. This book basically focuses on Clay, from a lone child werewolf to a teen. This story also focuses on the issues Jeremy had to deal with and Malcolm, Jeremy's father, who wants to take over the pack.

I'm going to start off saying that I love Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series and Clay and Elena's books are by far my fave! This book was amazing. I loved Clay as a child. He acted just as I imagined he would, wild and ruggish and smart and loyal. The issues he faced with the children of the other members of the pack and what he faced with Malcolm, he handles himself so well and this books just keeps you wanting to know more and more. Definitely a page turner.

Malcolm. I do not like Malcolm one little bit! He's conniving, evil, and just plain mean! But his character fits the part so well. Even though he is all those things, he is what kept the story full of action. And the issues he has with Jeremy is just jealousy. That's why he got what was coming to him. Which leads me to the next topic, Jeremy.

I love Jeremy also. He so intelligent, and level headed. I don't know how he had the patience to deal with Malcolm. The way he cared for Clay, so touching. And I also loved the side story with Jeremy and his lady at the end! Great touch to this book.

The others characters I like in this book are Nick and Antonio. They bring the comedy, especially Antonio. Off subject but another point, the action. This book was full of action, crazy adventure after crazy adventure. And betrayal after betrayal!

Overall, book was amazing! I really enjoyed this book with the men from the Women of the Otherworld series. If you have read the Women of the Otherworld series, I highly suggest you read this book!

Heather's Thoughts:
I am not even sure where to start with this review? This was a very different take on your average zombies. Nothing like I had read before. There was romance, horror and drama all wrapped into one neat little package. The premise was interesting. Some children changed into zombies, some didn’t? Some people died and some stayed alive? There really was no rhyme or reason to it and that is what these characters were fighting to find out.

Alex was a strong female who would not be told what to do. She had lost her parents in a tragic accident and never really got over it. She decides to take a long hike up the mountain to clear her head and spread her parent’s ashes. This will be the last time that she speaks to her family or feels comfortable with the world around her. When the change happens, she knows that something is different but she cannot figure out what it is. Throughout her travels, she stumbles upon several different characters and finds out what it truly means to love and lose.

This brings me to Ellie. Alex stumbles upon Ellie and her grandpa early on in the book. And can I say that this child needs to be dealt with? What a brat! Granted, she is only 8 or 9, but if my 8-year-old ever talked like this, she would be locked in her room FOREVER! I understand that she is angry because she lost her parents also, but geez.

Hmmm? Tom and Chris…There are two male leads that have a little romance with Alex and I can honestly say that I liked them both. I think that I am leaning toward Chris though. He seemed like he had more of a connection with Alex and I truly believe that he loves her. Tom just seems like it was convenient.

The ending is left with a HUGE cliffhanger and I was left with my heart pitter-patting and jaw hanging to my waist. Then I looked around and said “What the heck?” I did not realize that this was going to be a trilogy and when I did find out, I was overjoyed! I cannot wait to see where the road leads for these characters!

Okay This week I found out about three books! 

Synopsis:

My Thoughts:
This is the final installment in the Dream Catchers series by Lisa McMann. After Janie finds out that she will go blind in the future from being suck into all the people's dreams. For Caleb's sake, she feels she needs leave, disappear. But when a stranger enters her life, everything begins so unravel.

Okay, let me start off saying that I enjoyed the first two books in the series, I really did. But this book is more like 2 1/2 stars for me. I just didn't like it. I still love Caleb but Janie...... I not going to lie, I couldn't finish this book. I stop a little over half way through, I ended up skipping to the last few pages just to see if she would end up with Caleb. I know, you where almost finished why didn't you just finished it? I was just so disappointed in this book.

My reasons....
This book started off bad for me from the get go. Janie just complained about everything to the point where it was so annoying. She was so indecisive, so irritating and so distant. I mean, I understood what she was going through considering the situation, but come on, sooner or later your going to have to suck it up, get over it, and deal with it. It was so depressing. I also, didn't like how she treated Caleb and lied to him, like everything she was feeling was just peachy. He already knew something was up.
I feel like everything could have been played out better that what it was. I felt like there was just something missing from the story entirely. I also understood the issues with her mom, but still, I feel it could have been written out better.

But, I did enjoy the first two books in the series, just not this one. But I do recommend you at least give this series a try because your opinion my be completely different that mine.
