From #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning comes the first book in her hotly anticipated new urban paranormal trilogy, set in the world of her blockbuster Fever series.
The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.
Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.
Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.
When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.
Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Like seriously! How awesome could this book get?! I loved every single moment of it. Well not EVERY moment. There was, you know, the one I've been ranting about that I could have done without. I loved being back in the world of the fae that Moning has created. There was TONS of action and drama and entertainment going on throughout this book that kept me completely engrossed. I LOVED reading from Dani's POV and thought it was a nice change within the series, even though I missed Barrons and Mac!

I didn't find this book weird at all like some people have. Maybe it's just a matter of perspective? But I was totally loving it! Dani is an awesome character and I loved whenever she came around in the story with Mac, but I loved how this was a book focused more on her and her only! It let us get to know her more and understand her 14 year old way of thinking :) Dani is spunky! That attitude of hers is what makes her who she is. She's smart and brave, but sometimes that can be her downfall. But who cares, she's Dani 'Mega' O'Malley! Sometimes though, I felt as though some of the characters treated her as if she was an adult (and I'm not talking about the sex stuff). I'm talking about the way they physically pushed her around (Ryodan) like she was a punching bag. I mean sometimes I just wanted to whoop his ass!

But I love RYODAN. I'm sorry people, but I just could help it. He's hot! I drove me crazy throughout the story, only doing things that was benefited him. The bastard! He was a jerk the majority of the time and always giving Dani major crap, but I have hopes for him :) But WHAT THE HELL was up with the Jo stuff. That was a bunch of bull if you ask me. Jo is too WEAK and doesn't have any kind of fight in her. She's someone Ryo can step all over and dispose of whenever he's ready to (just as Dani said). Ugh, it made me so mad! Of all the characters...Jo...Even the name is boring! I think Ryodan needs someone, if not Dani, someone tougher with more spirit and fight in her. She was completely useless in that major battle at the end. USELESS! ANYWAYS, I also liked Christian even though he was a little weird. Him turning into an Unseelie Prince has changed him as a character, but I love that you see how caring and sweet he can be when it comes to Dani. And Dancer was just adorable! I swear that boy had me cracking up :) I mean, he's just so cute. How can you not like him?

I LOVED this story and can't wait to continue on! But 2014 for Burned?! That's so long away :( That ending was a horrible cliffhanger. My mouth seriously dropped. I could not believe the story just stopped there. Moning, that was tortuous and you know :) But overall, the story was filled with action packed awesomeness! I think this is a must read for those who like the series!
